Chip Repair Qualification

Let's check if your windscreen chip is suitable for repair.

Step 1 of 5

Important: We can only repair chips on windscreens. Side windows, sunroofs, and rear windows cannot be repaired and will require replacement.

If a technician arrives and finds the chip is non-repairable because the information provided is incorrect, the full appointment fee is payable and you will be quoted for a replacement.

Chip Location

Is the chip in the driver's view (the area directly in front of the driver)?

The driver's view is the area of the windscreen directly in front of the driver, approximately 290mm wide (A4 paper size).

Why do we ask these questions?

Not all windscreen chips can be repaired. The success of a repair depends on several factors:

  • Size: Larger chips (over 10mm in the driver's view or 20mm elsewhere) may require full windscreen replacement.
  • Location: Chips in the driver's direct line of sight have stricter repair criteria for safety reasons.
  • Condition: If a chip has started turning white, it means moisture has penetrated the glass, making repair more difficult.

By answering these questions, we can determine if a chip repair is suitable for your situation or if a full windscreen replacement would be more appropriate.
